The High Court in India is a superior court of record that has original jurisdiction, appellate jurisdiction, and supervisory jurisdiction. Here are the types of cases that can be filed in the High Court in India: Writ Petitions: A writ petition is a petition filed by an individual or an organization seeking relief from the High Court in cases where a fundamental right has been violated or where there has been a breach of statutory duty. Criminal Appeals: Appeals against the conviction or acquittal of an accused in criminal cases tried by the lower court can be filed in the High Court. Civil Appeals: Appeals against the orders and judgments of the lower court in civil cases can be filed in the High Court. Public Interest Litigation (PIL): PIL is a type of litigation in which an individual or an organization can file a petition in the High Court seeking relief for the public at large. Company Law Matters: Matters related to company law, such as disputes between shareholders, appointment and removal of directors, winding up of companies, and other matters related to company law can be filed in the High Court. Taxation Matters: Matters related to taxation, such as appeals against orders of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, disputes between taxpayers and tax authorities, and other matters related to taxation can be filed in the High Court. Service Matters: Matters related to employment, such as disputes between employees and employers, disciplinary actions taken by employers, and other matters related to employment can be filed in the High Court. Admiralty Matters: Matters related to maritime law, such as disputes between ship owners, charterers, and cargo owners, claims for loss or damage to ships, and other matters related to admiralty law can be filed in the High Court. These are some of the types of cases that can be filed in the High Court in India. The jurisdiction of the High Court varies from state to state, and the specific types of cases that can be filed may differ from one High Court to another.

Dear Client, High Court in India is a court which is above the subordinates or districts courts, and it is under the Apex Court that is the Supreme Court. High Courts are set up at state level and when it comes to the jurisdiction high court is having: • Original Jurisdiction • Appellate Jurisdiction • Supervisory Jurisdiction Writ Petitions can be filled directly in the High Court if fundamental rights of any citizen are violated and Article 226 of Indian Constitution grants that. And High Court hear such matters concerning Fundamental rights, and it safeguard such rights and not only that even a writ petition can be filled in the various High Court regarding a violation of legal or constitutional rights of any person. Criminal appeals and Civil appeals can also be filed at the High Court for justice which has been decided by the lower courts and if any party is not satisfied then that party can file an appeal to the High Court. PIL that is Public Interest Litigation can also be filed in the High Court for the welfare of general public and also matters concerning other subjects of law like company, labour, employment, family, tax, services, claims these can also be filed at the High Court. Dear Client, The High Court in India is a court which is subordinate to the Supreme Court but above the lower courts that is subordinates districts courts. And there are mainly three Jurisdiction under the various High Court in India namely, 1. Original Jurisdiction 2. Appellate Jurisdiction 3. Supervisory Jurisdiction Writ Petitions for the protection of Fundamental Rights can be filled directly in the High Court and Article 226 of Indian Constitution allows that. High Court has the special power to hear such matters related to violation of Fundamental rights and also Legal Rights violation High Courts also hear appeals that is Criminal appeals and Civil appeals can also be filed at the various High Court and if any party is not satisfied with the judgement or order of any lower court. PIL (Public Interest Litigation) can also be filed at the High Court for the benefit of general. Also, cases related to election, family, bankruptcy, contempt, tax, company and labour and services can also be filed at the High Court. I hope this answer helps.
