If your bank account has been hacked, immediately contact your bank and inform them about the unauthorized access or transactions. Ask the bank to block your account, debit card, internet banking, and UPI services if necessary. Change all your banking passwords, UPI PIN, and email password linked to the account. Check your account statement carefully and note any suspicious transactions. If money has been fraudulently withdrawn, call the Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930 and file a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal as soon as possible. Keep screenshots, SMS alerts, and transaction details as evidence. You should also file a police complaint or FIR and regularly follow up with the bank regarding the status of your complaint and any refund claim.

Dear Client, If your bank account has been hacked you must act with extreme urgency to stop further losses and secure your funds every minute counts in preventing the movement of stolen money so the following steps should be followed firstly call the National Cyber Crime helpline number that is 1930 immediately this is the most critical step operators can initiate an inquiry on the fraudsters account to freeze the stolen funds. Further, use your bank’s official mobile app net banking portal or their 24/7 emergency helpline to block your cards and all digital banking channels and finally if you still have access log out of all active sessions across all devices immediately. After following the above steps a written complaint via the bank’s official email or by visiting your home branch should be made in which you should clearly describe the unauthorized transaction its date and time and amount also visit the official National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and select Report Financial Fraud. This creates a permanent government verified record of your case. Take screenshots of the fraudulent transactions and save all SMS email alerts and download your bank statement for the 24 hours preceding and following the incident. It is important to note that under RBI guidelines if you report an unauthorized electronic banking transaction within 3 working days your financial liability with regard to such transaction generally becomes zero provided, the fraud was not caused by your negligence. If the bank fails to resolve your complaint within 30 days or denies your claim you can escalate the matter to the bank’s nodal officer and lastly for significant financial losses that you have faced visit your local cyber crime police station to file a formal FIR. I hope this answer helps, if you have any further query kindly do not hesitate to contact us. Thankyou
