Constitution Of India Article 84: Qualification for Membership of Parliament

A person shall not be qualified to be chosen to fill a seat in Parliament unless they meet the following criteria:

  • (a){3}[ The person is a citizen of India and makes and subscribes to an oath or affirmation before a person authorized by the Election Commission as per the format in the Third Schedule.]
  • (b) The person must meet the age criteria:
    • Not less than 30 years of age for the Council of States (Rajya Sabha).
    • Not less than 25 years of age for the House of the People (Lok Sabha).]
  • (c) Possesses such other qualifications as prescribed by or under any law made by Parliament.
