Brief Detail

Article 186 ensures that the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, as well as the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council, are entitled to salaries and allowances. These salaries and allowances are determined either by the Legislature of the State through law or, if no such provision is made, by those specified in the Second Schedule of the Constitution.

Question & Answers

Who determines the salaries and allowances of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Chairman, and Deputy Chairman?

The salaries and allowances of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, and the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council, are determined by the Legislature of the State through law.
