Answer By law4u team

A revenue map of land is an official government map that shows the boundaries, survey numbers, dimensions, and location details of land parcels within a village or area as recorded in revenue records. It is prepared and maintained by the land revenue department for administrative and legal purposes. In India, revenue maps are created under state land revenue laws. For example, in Gujarat they are maintained according to the provisions of the Gujarat Land Revenue Code, 1879 and related survey regulations. These maps help authorities identify ownership records, land classification, and exact positioning of properties. A revenue map usually contains information such as survey numbers or block numbers, boundary lines, roads, water bodies, neighboring plots, and sometimes measurements or scale. It does not always show construction details but mainly focuses on land identification as per official records. Revenue maps are commonly required when purchasing or selling land, applying for land demarcation, resolving boundary disputes, converting agricultural land to non agricultural use, obtaining building permission, or verifying property details for legal matters. They are also used by courts and government authorities as reference documents in land related disputes. You can obtain a copy of the revenue map from the local land records office, survey department, or through online land record portals in many states.

Dear Client, A revenue map of land functions as an official cadastral map which revenue authorities create and uphold to display the exact land parcel limits together with their survey numbers and sub-divisions and natural characteristics within a village or locality. The document exists as a component of land records which authorities use to identify land boundaries and manage landowner rights. States such as Karnataka follow Section 131 of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964 which permits survey officers to conduct land surveys and establish property boundary lines and create mapping records as part of their duties. The maps need to be used together with Record of Rights (RTC) documents which public authorities maintain according to Section 127 of the Act to show the relationship between land ownership records and actual land boundary assessment. Revenue maps serve as essential tools because they provide official measurements which show land borders and neighboring properties to settle boundary disputes and mutation proceedings and land acquisition and conversion cases. The revenue department issues certified copies which courts accept as valid evidence according to Sections 74 and 76 read with Sections 61 and 63 of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023. The documents provide strong evidence for establishing boundaries and survey details but they do not function as definite proof of title ownership which requires title deeds and other records for verification. The revenue map establishes itself as an official record which enables land identification and boundary assessment. I hope the answer was helpful. For further queries feel free to contact us.

Dear client, A Revenue Map of land is also an official map which is prepared and maintained through the Revenue or Land Records Department, which shows the boundaries of Survey numbers and divisions of land in a certain village or an area. It is a graphical representation of the division of land into various plots and is useful to identify exactly where a particular piece of land is located, how large and the adjoining properties are as per the government records. A revenue map is basically used for the purpose of land identification, demarcation and dealings in property and settlement of boundary disputes. It also helps authorities and landowners to verify details of land while conducting surveys, land conversion or development activities. The map is an important legal reference document, but might generally be read in conjunction with such records as the Record of Rights (RTC) for full ownership and use details.
