Dear Client, The process of court marriage in India is governed by the Secular Act of Special Marriage Act 1954. It typically takes around 30 to 45 days to complete a court marriage in India, this duration is primarily due to the mandatory 30- day public notice that is required for the intended marriage. The timeline is generally structured as follows, Firstly, after the party submit the notice of intended marriage to the marriage officer in the district where at least one of the parties has resided is at least 30 days. The officer publishes this notice in the conspicuous place in their office, then if any objection is raised the marriage officer is required to conduct an inquiry into its validity the process must be completed within the span of 30 days of receiving the objection. If the objection is found to be invalid or no objection is raised at all the process proceeds. Finally, once the 30-day notice has expired any potential objections have been resolved the parties along with three witnesses appear before the marriage officer to sign a declaration and have the marriage solemnized, a marriage certificate is then issued which serves as a conclusive proof of the union.
