In India, the legal grounds for divorce are outlined in the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. According to the act, mental illness is a valid ground for divorce if the mental disorder is of such a nature and degree that the petitioner cannot reasonably be expected to live with the respondent. However, before seeking a divorce, it may be beneficial to try and seek medical help for your wife's mental condition. You can also consider seeking the help of a marriage counselor or therapist who can help both you and your wife work through any issues that may be affecting your relationship. It is also important to note that divorce can be a lengthy and complicated legal process, and it is advisable to seek the advice of a qualified lawyer who is familiar with the legal process and can provide guidance based on your specific situation.
