The woman also has the right to sell her share of the property. When the court decides in the case of divorce, the wife's right is one-third to one-fifth of the husband's entire property. Husband's monthly salary cannot get more than 25 percent share for wife's maintenance. In case of job loss, the installment may get delayed. In India, the wife has the right on the husband's property only under the authority of the law. After marriage, if the husband and wife decide to separate, then women can ask for allowance from the husband under section 24 of the Hindu Marriage Act. On the other hand, under the Wife Domestic Violence Act and 125 CrPC, women can demand alimony from their husbands throughout their life.
