In cases tried by the Court of Session or a Chief Judicial Magistrate, the Court or such Magistrate, as the case may be, shall forward a copy of its or his finding and sentence (if any) to the District Magistrate within whose local jurisdiction the trial was held.
Section 406 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, requires that when a case is tried by the Court of Session or a Chief Judicial Magistrate, the court or magistrate must send a copy of the finding and sentence (if applicable) to the District Magistrate. The copy is to be sent to the District Magistrate in whose jurisdiction the trial was conducted.
A1: The Court of Session or the Chief Judicial Magistrate is responsible for forwarding the finding and sentence (if any) to the District Magistrate.

If a case is tried by the Court of Session in District A, the Court of Session must send a copy of the judgment and any sentence to the District Magistrate of District A.
A Chief Judicial Magistrate in District B conducts a trial and passes a sentence. The Magistrate must send a copy of the finding and the sentence to the District Magistrate of District B.
Section 406 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, ensures that in cases tried by the Court of Session or Chief Judicial Magistrate, a copy of the finding and sentence must be sent to the District Magistrate within whose jurisdiction the trial was conducted.
