Answer By AnikDear Client, If a Central Public Information Officer (CPIO) or State Public Information Officer (SPIO) does not respond within the specified time limits then: Deemed Refusal: If the CPIO or SPIO fails to give a decision on the request for information within the period specified (generally thirty days, or forty-eight hours for life or liberty concerns), the request shall be deemed to have been refused. Information Provided Free of Charge: Where a public authority fails to comply with the time limits specified under sub-section (1) of section 7, the person making the request for the information shall be provided the information free of charge. Grounds for Complaint/Appeal: A person can file a complaint or appeal with the Central Information Commission (CIC) or State Information Commission (SIC) if they have not been given a response to a request for information or access to information within the time limit specified under the Act. This is one of the matters relating to requesting or obtaining access to records that the Commissions can inquire into. I hope this answer helps.
