In India, the Right to Information (RTI) application fee is usually ₹10, and it can be paid through several methods depending on how and where the RTI is filed. Here are the common methods to pay the RTI application fee: 1. Online RTI Applications (Central Government Departments) If filing via the official RTI portal: (https://rtionline.gov.in) You can pay the ₹10 fee using: - Internet banking (SBI and associate banks) - Credit/Debit cards - UPI Once paid, an electronic receipt is generated. 2. Offline Applications (Postal or Hand Delivery) When submitting a physical RTI application to a public authority: - Attach an Indian Postal Order (IPO) worth ₹10, payable to the “Accounts Officer” of the concerned public authority. - Alternatively, a Demand Draft or Banker’s Cheque of ₹10 can be used, also payable to the Accounts Officer. - Some state governments also accept court fee stamps of ₹10. 3. RTI Application via Post Office Many designated post offices across India accept RTI applications and allow payment through: - RTI-specific Indian Postal Orders (available at the post office) - They forward the application and IPO to the relevant public authority. 4. Exemptions No fee is required if the applicant is: - Below the poverty line (BPL), provided a valid BPL certificate or proof is attached.

For RTI applications submitted in physical form (via post or in person), the ₹10 fee can be paid through: Demand Draft (DD) or Banker's Cheque: Drawn in favor of the "Accounts Officer" of the concerned public authority. Indian Postal Order (IPO): Payable to the "Accounts Officer" of the relevant public authority. Cash Payment: Made directly at the public authority's office against a proper receipt.
