What is the language for filing RTI?

Under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005, an RTI application can be filed in the following languages: 1. English 2. Hindi 3. Regional language of the authority concerned Key Points: - There is no restriction on the language as long as the public authority can understand it. - Many public authorities accept applications in the official language of the region where the office is located. - If the application is in a language not understood by the authority, they may ask for a translation, but they cannot reject the application solely due to the language. Tip: To avoid delays, it’s advisable to file in English, Hindi, or the official language of the state where the authority is based.

As per this section, a person who desires to obtain any information under the Act shall make a request in writing or through electronic means in: English Hindi The official language of the area in which the application is being made.
