Dear Client, as per your query, in India, a Patta is a legal document issued by the government to show that you are the owner of the land. Although the word is mostly used in Tamil Nadu (where it is combined with Chitta), other states also have documents like Khata in Karnataka or Satbara in Maharashtra. Most states will be having online records for land, so you can apply for it from the official revenue department websites. Check the Tamil Nadu e-Services website or your state’s revenue department website and search for options such as "Apply for Change of Title" or "Patta Transfer." Enter your district, taluk, and village, then survey number and subdivision number. You will require scanned copies of Sale Deed, Encumbrance Certificate (EC), and identity proof. You have to pay a small processing fee. Use the Application ID to check the status. After approval, you can download the certificate. If there are no online services or if you prefer to apply in person, visit the Tahsildar office in your area or contact the Village Administrative Officer (VAO). And then do submit a written request or an application form filled out along with hard copies of ownership documents. Dear Client, Patta is an important document to claim ownership of the land. Patta can be applied through both online and offline modes. But before applying through any of the said means, make sure that you are the true owner of the land by establishing a sale deed, gift dead etc. For an online method (Applicable only in a few states) a) Visit the appropriate portal, say, Bhoomi in Karnataka, Tamil Nilam in Tamil Nadu, etc. b) Create a citizen account using your mobile number and an Aadhar Card. c) Search for apply for the patta or transfer of title on the site. d) Provide all the necessary details of the land, including the district, taluk, plot number, etc. e) Upload all the relevant documents, such as Sale Deed, Encumbrance Certificate, Identity proof of the owner, Property Tax receipts, etc. f) Pay the required fee and save the application ID given. You can also track the status of the application of the process through the given ID. For the offline method, a) Visit the Village Administrative Officer or the Taluk office. b) Fill the Patta Transfer application form. c) A Government surveyor may also visit the land and measure the boundaries if it is split from a larger plot of land. d) Submit all the necessary documents and pay a nominal fee. e) The officer shall check the documents, and once satisfied, a new patta will be issued.
