You can also report child abuse to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) or the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) in your area. Recording statement: The police or the child protection agency will record the statement of the victim or the person who reported the abuse. They may also conduct an investigation and collect evidence. Medical examination: The victim may be referred for a medical examination to assess the extent of the abuse and collect evidence. Counseling and support: The victim and their family may be provided with counseling and support services to cope with the trauma of the abuse. Filing a case: Based on the evidence and findings of the investigation, the police may register a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) or the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
