Dear Client, If your business location has been changed, it is important that you change your address on the GST portal in 15 days, otherwise, there will be non-compliance with GST which may attract penalties on you. However, updating your shop's address on the GST portal is not a hard thing to do. In order to change the address in GST Portal, you need to provide your amendment application along with proof of your new principal place of business using form GST REG-14. This will be the base of all your GST Registration Modification applications. The following are detailed procedures. The first step is to log in to the GST Portal which is gst.gov.in. After logging in, find the option to change your registration, you should go to the menu and look for the word Services, then select Registration. Click the "Edit" button to get to the area of your registration that requires modification. The next step is to select "Amendment of Registration - Core Fields" and then select whether you are amending the "Principal Place of Business" or an "Additional Place of Business". You will then be asked to give a reason for your modification and to confirm your modification, which will allow the generation of Form REG-14 that needs to be submitted. The last step is to electronically sign your submitted application using DSC or E-Sign or as approved and then indicate your authorised signatory. You will receive a successful message on the screen and an email/SMS notification confirming your request. The GST officer verifies Form REG-14 within 15 working days. If the officer does not respond within this period, the amendment request is deemed to be automatically approved as per the GST rules. If you own the premises, you can prove ownership by a recent property tax receipt, municipal khata, or utility bill. If you are on rental , please provide a lease or rent receipt for your most recent month with an ownership document from your landlord, such as a property tax receipt or utility bill. You can also show possession of the premises with a notarized affidavit which states that you have the right to hold onto the property, along with an official utility bill for that address. When moving or relocating between two different states, you cannot simply transfer your current GST Registration and using the same one in the new state will not work. You must obtain a completely new GST registration in your new state of residence. Each state is an independent legal entity within the GST framework. Further, if your business structure (Constitution) changes, then you will need to register again for a new PAN Number associated with your GST Registration, as amendments cannot be made to your PAN Number (which is linked to your GST Registration). However, if you would like to add multiple locations to your existing GSTIN, you may do that by listing them as an Additional Place of Business on your application. I hope this helps, and if you have any further issues, do not hesitate to contact us.

Dear client, you can change the address in GST while logging in to the GST portal. Go to the amendment of registrations and update the new address that you want to keep as the new business address. Upload all the proofs and verify your registration via DSC or OTP. After the submission you get an ARN to track your status. This update may be instant or approved within 7 to 15 days. If the state changes, a new GST registration is required for that. May this help and if you have any further issues do not hesitate to contact us.
