In India, the types of child custody arrangements are as follows: Sole custody: Sole custody means that one parent has the legal and physical custody of the child. The other parent has no right to make any decisions regarding the child's upbringing or welfare. Joint custody: Joint custody means that both parents share the legal and physical custody of the child. Both parents have the right to make decisions regarding the child's upbringing and welfare. Split custody: Split custody means that each parent has the legal and physical custody of one or more children. For example, one parent may have the custody of one child, and the other parent may have the custody of another child. Third-party custody: Third-party custody means that a person who is not the biological parent of the child has custody of the child. For example, grandparents or other relatives may have custody of the child. In India, the welfare of the child is the primary consideration in determining the custody arrangement. The court will consider various factors such as the child's age, gender, health, educational needs, and the ability of the parents to provide for the child's physical, emotional, and social needs before making a custody order.
