Can I file an FIR for a cheque bounce?

Yes, you can file an FIR against the person who has issued a cheque. A person can then file a case against the issuer of the cheque under Section 420 or 406 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in a criminal court.

For cheque bounce a legal notice to the person serving you bounce cheque will suffice. There is no need of Fir.

In cheque bounce cases u can send legal notice through advocate demanding the amount which is mentioned in cheque . There is no requirement for doing FIR
