Talaq-ul-Bain and Talaq-ul-Rajai are two different types of divorce under Muslim law. Here's a brief comparison of the two: Talaq-ul-Bain: Definition: It is an irrevocable form of divorce. Once the divorce is pronounced, the marriage is immediately and permanently dissolved, and the husband cannot take the wife back unless she marries another man and gets divorced from him. Pronouncement: This type of divorce is usually pronounced in one or more revocable declarations (such as "talaq, talaq, talaq"). After the pronouncement, the wife is no longer in the marital relationship. Reconciliation: No reconciliation is possible during the iddat (waiting) period, as the divorce is final and cannot be revoked by the husband. Iddat Period: The wife must observe the iddat period (waiting period) after Talaq-ul-Bain, but she cannot be reconciled with the husband during this time. Talaq-ul-Rajai: Definition: It is a revocable form of divorce. The husband has the right to revoke the divorce and take the wife back during the iddat period without needing to remarry her. Pronouncement: The husband pronounces the divorce once or twice. After the pronouncement, the wife remains in the marital relationship but the divorce is not finalized until the iddat period ends. Reconciliation: The husband has the option to reconcile and take back his wife during the iddat period by simply stating that he has taken her back. No new marriage contract is needed. Iddat Period: During the iddat period, reconciliation is possible. Once the iddat period ends, the divorce becomes final and the marriage cannot be revived unless a new marriage contract is entered into. In summary: Talaq-ul-Bain is an irrevocable divorce, while Talaq-ul-Rajai is revocable within the iddat period. Talaq-ul-Bain ends the marriage immediately and permanently, whereas Talaq-ul-Rajai allows for the possibility of reconciliation during the iddat period.
